As Christians, connection is so important to us...a place to call home, community with others, and connection in ministry with other churches. As Methodists in the Wesleyan tradition, it is part of our DNA. Our connection with the South GA Conference of The Global Methodist Church is a way to connect with other believers in all these ways.
This year's Annual Conference had the theme of "CALLED" and our Lay Delegate to the Annual Conference,Mary Alice Hendrix, her husband Jerry; and I attended. It was a great time of worship, fellowship, learning, with a little bit of business mixed in.
Six new Deacons and 12 new Elders were ordained at this year's Annual Conference as the ranks of our ordained clergy continue to grow. Along with opportunities to worship during each day, the Conference hosted several workshops to appeal to both laity and clergy and offer opportunities to learn and grow. The limited business that we did will allow the Conference to move forward with more efficiency and was approved in an unified and smooth fashion.
The Annual Conference reminded us that whether we are clergy or laity, WE ARE CALLED...called to be and to make disciples of Christ! We look forward to the upcoming convening General Conference of the Global Methodist Church in San Jose, Costa Rica to be held this September 20th-26th.
Feel free to ask me or Mary Alice, who represents you as laity if you have any specific questions.
